I recently found this article on the joy of food. I didn’t even know there was a national Food Day, but as the saying goes you can learn something new every day. Anyway, this article got me thinking about our upcoming holiday season and all the yummy treats we’ll have. It really is a joy to eat during the holiday season! We bring out the best recipes, plan out extra baking time, and even arrange the table so the entire meal looks and smells amazing. No wonder we add on a few extra pounds at the end of the year 🙂 So, since Halloween is almost here, I decided to look around for some yummy Halloween treats that wouldn’t put us in a sugar coma. There are some great ideas out there! I specifically looked for ideas which used at least some ingredients I could grow in the garden.
Here are a few ideas I found:
- Bell peppers for jack-o-lanterns and Spinach in witches brew
- Pumpkin Orange Cream Smoothie
- Pumpkin Poptarts
- Watermelon brain, Carrot eyes, Pea pod smiles
I am sure there are many more semi-healthy Halloween recipes out there. The idea here is to find ideas to help counter act the sugar overload but still be fun. So, what are some fun Halloween ideas you have?
And of course, Happy Halloween! 🙂
