It’s time to finish up the homemade citrus cleaner we started over 2 weeks ago. For a quick summary, the idea is to create a cleaning concentrate by soaking citrus peels in vinegar. The result will have the anti-microbial properties of the peels, plus a sweet smell.
To finish you:
- Strain the peels out of liquid. Use a cheesecloth or something similar to take out all the little pieces so your sprayer doesn’t become clogged if you want to use one.
- Mix your new concentrate liquid with equal parts of water and start cleaning! Remember that vinegar is acidic – test your cleaning area first to make sure you don’t have unwanted affects.
From my quart jar full of peels I was able to get about a cup and a third of cleaner. The vinegar actually turned a little syrupy.
Use this as a general purpose cleaner. I’ve used it for dusting so far. When first sprayed, there is a slight vinegar smell which dissipates quickly leaving a nice, clean, citrus-y smelling surface.
Happy Cleaning 🙂
