Citrus Cleaner

This month’s issue of Hobby Farm Home has an article on making your own all-purpose cleaner using the rinds from citrus fruit. You can use lemons, limes, oranges, etc. The idea is to take advantage of the anti-microbial properties the rinds have. Since the oranges around here have been good I really wanted to use the sweet smelling rinds instead of throwing them away.

How it works:
Take your rinds and put them in a quart jar. Fill the rest of the jar with distilled white vinegar and shake it up. Then wait for 2 weeks.

After 2 weeks filter out the rinds. Take a spray bottle (or another jar) and mix your new citrus cleaner with water in equal parts and start cleaning!

We’re just starting our 2 week soak, but I’m sure when it’s done we’re going to have some great smelling, all-natural cleaner! 🙂
