Its finally done! The chickens are outside and loving it – so are we. The first few days we had to physically put them in the coop and close them in before they finally understood they could walk up the ramp and go in themselves. Now they go in whenever they want.
We looked at several coop’s online, decided on the features we wanted, and went to work. Needless to say there were a few changes made along the way to make everything fit together. We bought most of the materials which made it cost more then originally planned, but still less then one we could have bought with similar features.
I have no fear of the chickens being blown away in a storm, this thing is HEAVY! Thankfully we only had to move the house portion a few feet after finishing it. There will still need to be a little more work done before cold weather comes, otherwise the girls might be a little cold. Overall though we’re happy with the final results.
Final dimensions:
Run: 4’W X 8’L; Coop: 3.5’W X 5’L X 7.5’H

Can the chickens roam around the yard or are they limited to the wire enclosure?
