Hello Cold Weather

The fall season is upon us, but now feels more like winter. A week ago it was 80 degrees, and this weekend had our first snow fall According to the Farmers Almanac though, this cold weather is right on schedule for our area. Which means our cold frames are now being put to the test!

We have planted radishes and beets -the radishes are coming up. Truthfully, we planted it a little late so we’ll see how it does through the season. In the Farmers Almanac succession planting guide, it says for a first frost date of October, we should have planted the beets by the end of July at the latest. I hope at least a few of the beets will come up, but we did plant them the end of August. If the guide is correct we probably won’t get any. The radishes though are growing great. I’ll give an update as we get further in the season.
